Glastonbury Festival is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world. The Festival takes place across 900 acres in the Vale of Avalon, Somerset, UK. With over 100 stages and 800 different vendors, it attracted more than 210,000 visitors in 2023 with television coverage being viewed by more than 21million people worldwide.
Stanton Cross is a brand new mixed-use development that is situated on the eastern edge of Wellingborough. As part of the towns £1 billion investment, a brand new Primary School to accomodated 420 pupils. In order to provide a high-quality educational provision, cabling infrastructure to support modern learning was required across the building. This all needed to be powered from the main comms room by servers housed in Connectix floor cabinets. A full range of technology was installed to achieve these objectives, including Cat 6a, B2ca cable, Cabinets, Panels, Cable Management and a total of 229 ports.
Chivers Barns in Haslingfield, South Cambridge is a development owned by Trumpington Estate. This vast project saw 4 brand new residential units of 2,3 and 4 bedroom smart living cottages built on a rural location, in open farming land. The project ran throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought many challenges, but was ultimatley delivered as promised and with minimal disruption to the end user client.
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hyde Park is one of London’s most celebrated 5-star hotels. It offers a fashionable and timeless base, complete with world-famous restaurants and a stunning spa in the heart of the British capital. As part of a multi-million pound refurbishment of the entire hotel, a full network upgrade was required to improve their vision for long-term improved guest room experience.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesborough, run by the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation, is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracic, vascular surgery and cancer services. Connectix have a relationship with the Hospital spanning 15 years. They were initially selected as a supplier after the hospital felt Connectix could provide them with high quality products which also represented the best value for money solution to their network requirements.
Network Rail, the freehold owners of City House, attached to Leeds Train Station, agreed a ground lease with Bruntwood who in turn gained planning permission for a complete renovation of the 12 storey building. The 121,000 sq ft landmark building was to be renamed Platform and the transformation would see it offering workspace for businesses of all sizes, right at the heart of the city. In order to facilitate this, a complete new network solution was required throughout.

Affinity Sutton and adds to Central London’s dynamic skyline. At 36-storeys high it stands as Islington’s tallest building. This clean contemporary complex in the heart of the Athens Riviera is only 25km from Athens. The three distinctive five-star hotels, Arion, Nafsika and Aphrodite have a total of 450 spacious guestrooms, including 75 fully equipped private bungalows. Guaranteeing communication between each business sector was a key part of the design. A total of 396 Category 6 outlets supported by 18 Building distributors were connected by multimode and singlemode fibre back to the Campus Distributor. This network reaches every corner of the business.
Leading retailer Oasis Stores Ltd, part of the Mosaic Fashion Group, needed to increase its office and warehouse facilities due to an increased number of lines and the recent acquisitions of Coast, Karen Miller and Whistles. A purpose designed facility was constructed close to the existing warehouse. A two part solution was adopted, with a Cat 5e UTP for the office areas and fibre for the warehouse terminals and equipment cabled from a separate cabinets situated in the warehouse.
The Petchey Academy has structured cabling in every classroom, supporting the Wireless LANs (APs) and AV (including all TVs and whiteboards). Security is taken very seriously and the IT cabling infrastructure also supports the door access control system (swipe cards). This state of the art building offers a new outlook on secondary education; with excellent sports facilities, up-to-date music facilities, a training kitchen and restaurant and easy access to computers all contained within a safe and secure environment.
In only 6 years Cobalt Park has grown to become the UK’s largest office park and has recently celebrated the completion of over 1 million sq ft of highly specified offices. There are currently over 14,000 people employed at Cobalt. The Quadrant (formerly Cobalt 16) is one of the key buildings in the development, a 100,770 sq ft (9,361 sq m) air conditioned state-of-the-art building. This new development for North Tyneside Council has been designed to house a number of services for the community it serves including Information & Communication Technology.
RM began the relationship with Connectix in September 2001. At this time RM plc needed the expertise of a cabling system manufacturer to help rectify existing problems on legacy systems. In addition it was seen as opportunity to develop a project team for future installation and support. Over five years this team successfully installed and supported 2,262 schools with cabling systems (Cat 5E, Cat 6 and OM2/3 fibre), cabinets, ethernet switches (Networx, Cisco, HP) and ethernet wireless products. There are extensive computing facilities available to the students, including a computer games suite and a life-like hospital teaching environment with robot patients.
The University of Kent at Canterbury has just taken possession of a state of the art computer centre featuring a 200 square metre computer room and communications entrance facility. The density of the racks and communications cabinets, plus the short time-scale, meant that only a pre-terminated cabling solution could meet the requirements of the data centre interconnection plan. This Tier 2 data centre packed in 48 server racks and 10 communications racks, plus an entrance facility housing another five communications racks in just a 200 square metre footprint.

Business Environment’s IT and Communications team started the infrastructure installation in November 2010 and has worked quickly, professional and efficiently onsite.
